Night Air
Nighttime lays itself heavy against your head. Streetlights are dim and so is your willingness to perceive them. Something weaves in and out in-between. Dark shapes, amorphous and shifting.
You enjoy how the amber lamps illuminate their brief forms.
The pavement barely makes a scuff against your worn shoes. You’ve been meaning to get new ones. Soft blue light fills your face and you discover the shoe store is closed.
At 1AM you wonder why you looked that up.
The shapes brush against you.
Nighttime air is contagious. poisonous. clearing. Can air swim through your ears into your brain? You could ask the blue light.
At 1AM you wonder why you didn’t.
Be sure to take careful steps home, the cashmere blanket of stars will only appear in safety.
And You are not safe.
